The Asia Pacific School of Business Awarded IQA Provisional Accreditation by IAPUC

Singapore, 20 Mar 2026 – The Asia Pacific School of Business (APSB) has been awarded Provisional Accreditation under the Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) framework of the International Association of Private Universities and Colleges (IAPUC), the Association announced today.

The provisional accreditation, valid for a period of two years, recognises that APSB has substantially met the core standards of the IQA framework while identifying specific areas requiring further development within a designated timeframe. Institutions under Provisional Accreditation are subject to focused monitoring and are expected to demonstrate meaningful progress toward Full Accreditation within the two-year period.

This milestone marks a significant advancement in APSB’s ongoing commitment to academic excellence and quality assurance, building upon its established position as a leading private higher education institution in the Asia-Pacific region.

A Legacy of Educational Excellence

Founded in 1995 as Kiyen Academy, The Asia Pacific School of Business was formally established as a tertiary institution in 1999 upon approval by the Singapore Ministry of Education. Guided by the institutional philosophy of “integrating Eastern and Western wisdom, uniting knowledge with action” , APSB has evolved into a prominent business school with a distinctive Asia-Pacific identity.

The institution operates with the strategic positioning of “Asia-Pacific depth, global breadth” , offering a comprehensive portfolio of academic programmes spanning business administration, finance, management, humanities, and emerging technology disciplines. APSB currently serves a student body of over 3,000 and operates through six schools, offering 12 associate degrees, 16 joint bachelor’s degrees, 13 joint master’s degrees, and 8 joint doctoral degrees across nearly 50 Chinese and English programmes.

Beyond its Singapore headquarters, APSB has established a significant international footprint with campuses in New Zealand, France, and Vietnam, alongside strategic partnerships with more than 30 countries.

A Comprehensive Quality Assurance Framework

The award of IQA Provisional Accreditation adds to APSB’s extensive portfolio of international accreditations and memberships, underscoring the institution’s sustained commitment to global academic standards.

APSB holds accreditation from several leading international bodies, including the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP), the International Accreditation Council for Business Education (IACBE), the Association of MBAs and Business Graduates Association (AMBA & BGA), the Accreditation Service for International Colleges (ASIC), and the Education Trust and Quality Assurance Association (EEQA). The institution is also certified under ISO 9001, ISO 21001, and ISO 29990 quality management standards.

In addition to its accreditations, APSB maintains active membership in numerous international organisations, including the United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI), the Academic Council on the United Nations System (ACUNS), the Asian Association of Open Universities (AAOU), and the Asia-Pacific University Association (AUAP).

The Significance of IQA Provisional Accreditation

The IQA framework, administered by IAPUC, is built upon three theoretical pillars: Mission-Driven, Outcome-Based, and Performance Excellence. The Provisional Accreditation status, as the first tier of the IQA accreditation pathway, signals that an institution has demonstrated substantial compliance with the core standards while undertaking a structured journey toward full accreditation.

Institutions receiving Provisional Accreditation benefit from IAPUC’s focused monitoring and capacity-building support, ensuring that the identified areas for improvement are addressed systematically within the two-year window. Upon successful completion of the provisional period and demonstration of meaningful progress, institutions become eligible to apply for Full Accreditation (valid for four years) and, ultimately, Comprehensive Accreditation (valid for six years).

Institutional Leadership and Strategic Vision

Commenting on this achievement, Dr. Yiyan Jianyin, Rotating Chair of the APSB Board of Trustees, stated: “The award of IQA Provisional Accreditation by IAPUC represents another milestone in our enduring commitment to academic excellence and institutional quality. It affirms our rigorous standards while providing a structured pathway for continuous enhancement.”

“At APSB, we have long recognised that quality assurance is not merely a compliance obligation but a strategic imperative,” Dr. Jianyin added. “This provisional accreditation reflects our dedication to the IAPUC’s three pillars—mission-driven governance, outcome-based education, and performance excellence—and positions us for the next phase of our institutional development.”

The IAPUC Framework and Its Role in Private Higher Education

Established in 2018 and registered in the State of Colorado, USA (Registration No. 20251179157), IAPUC is the world’s only multidisciplinary comprehensive quality accreditation body exclusively serving private higher education institutions. The Association’s mission is to promote innovation, academic excellence, and international cooperation within the private education sector, providing a platform for member institutions to share best practices, advocate for policy reform, and advance global accreditation standards.

As a founding member of IAPUC, APSB has played an active role in shaping the Association’s strategic initiatives since its inception, particularly in advancing business education excellence across the Asia-Pacific region.

Looking Forward: The Path to Full Accreditation

The two-year provisional period will see APSB working closely with IAPUC to address the identified areas for improvement while continuing to enhance its academic programmes, faculty development, and institutional governance structures. The institution’s existing strengths—including its robust international partnerships, technology-enhanced learning platforms, and comprehensive quality management systems—provide a solid foundation for this journey.

With its ISO-certified curriculum, AI-driven learning platforms, and extensive industry collaborations—including partnerships with Geely Talent Development Group and other corporate entities—APSB is well-positioned to demonstrate the progress required for advancement to Full Accreditation.
